Culinary Principles (Culinary 1)
This introductory course is designed for students interested in exploring the fundamentals of culinary arts and the food service industry. Students will gain hands-on experience in kitchen safety, sanitation, knife skills, cooking techniques, and basic baking and pastry production. The course emphasizes teamwork, time management, and professional communication — all essential skills for success in the culinary world.

Students will work with industry-standard equipment while following current food trends and learning recipe development, food costing, and plating techniques. As part of the course, all students will have the opportunity to earn their Food Handler Certification, ensuring they understand and apply safe food handling practices in the kitchen.
