Principal’s Message
Dear Sherman Oaks CES Families, Students, and Staff,
As we return for the spring semester, I am filled with pride and excitement for what lies ahead. The first half of the year brought remarkable accomplishments—from academic breakthroughs to artistic achievements—and I know we will build on this momentum in the months to come. At SOCES, we are a community that values both excellence and growth, where each student’s unique contributions create the vibrant learning environment that defines our school.
This spring promises to be an exciting season of challenges and celebrations. Our students are preparing to shine in Academic Decathlon, Robotics competitions, and the Science Bowl, demonstrating the intellectual rigor and collaborative spirit that set SOCES apart. Spring sports are already underway, and I look forward to cheering on our athletes as they compete with skill and determination. For our seniors, this semester marks the culmination of years of hard work, as college acceptances begin to roll in, opening doors to bright and promising futures.
We also look forward to showcasing the arts and the power of creativity through our spring performing arts concerts and the beloved Spring Festival. These events remind us of the importance of balance, community, and shared joy as we celebrate the diverse talents of our students.
At SOCES, our strength lies in our unity and diversity. As Coretta Scott King so beautifully said, “The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.” Together, we will continue to foster an environment where every student feels seen, valued, and empowered to thrive.
This semester, we will maintain our focus on excellence through differentiated instruction, meaningful student engagement, and our ongoing partnership with USC’s Race and Equity Center. These efforts aim to ensure that every student has access to the tools and opportunities they need to succeed, both inside and outside the classroom.
To our students: seize every opportunity to learn, grow, and inspire. To our families: thank you for your partnership and trust as we work together to support each child’s success.
Let’s make this spring a season to remember, filled with achievements, celebrations, and moments that showcase the heart and soul of SOCES.
Warm regards,
Susie Parker
