Internships
Internships are usually low-commitment summer positions that provide exposure to whatever field you're interested in. They are great for resumes and college applications, and employers highly prefer applicants with internship experience. The opportunities below include NASA, Kaiser Permanente, and the district attorney's office.

The Intern Project (TIP) provides high school students from schools across LA County the opportunity to work in dynamic career areas. TIP company partner fields include: Arts, Media & Entertainment, Engineering & Tech, Business, Government/Non-Profit/Philanthropy, Sports, and Healthcare & Medical Technology. Priority will be given to high-need students.
Children's Hospital LA: Latino & African-American HS Internship Program (LA-HIP)
Compensation: Stipend
Eligibility Requirements: Underrepresented minority in medicine and science, currently a junior in high school, have social security number.
Application due: early February
The Samuels Family LA-HIP is an education program for underrepresented minorities studying medicine and science. It offers vast opportunities for students in this field to learn hands-on laboratory-based research and excel as scientists or physicians. Eligible students must apply in the fall of their junior year of high school and have a genuine interest in the STEM field.

Seven week summer program with weekly workshops and mentorships with non-medical professionals in anything ranging from Accounting to Law to Marketing. Students must be available to work full-time, maximum 40 hours per week. Priority is given to juniors and seniors.

A common misconception is that NASA only offers engineering internships. Please know that we have opportunities for students who are not majoring in engineering, available every semester. NASA needs employees with a variety of knowledge and skills.
OSTEM internships offer students an opportunity to gain practical work experience while working side-by-side with mentors who are research scientists, engineers, and individuals from many other professions. Internships may be full time or part time; and, they may be on a NASA center or facility, or even working from your home or dorm.

LA County District Attorney's Office

As the nation’s largest local prosecutorial agency, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities every semester. General volunteer positions are available for individuals who have been selected to assist with a special project or assignment. There also are opportunities for members of the public who want to assist crime victims.
Holocaust Museum LA High School Summer Internship Program
